Condescending, Condi?appearances?

Several times this week during TV. appearances, President Bush has referred to our Secretary Of State, as 'Condi". I find it strange; he wouldn't refer to Rumsfield as Rummy, or the vice President as , etc. Does anyone else find it a mite too chummy, or just plain patronizing?
