I have a 2002 Hyundai Accent. What would make a clicking noise when I have the gas pedal pressed?

It also shift hard into overdrive. And when I slow to about 40mph it will slip out of overdrive and won't go back into it. When I shut the car off and let it sit for a few minutes then start it again the overdrive will work until it slips out again.
