Life expectancy of a Macbook?

If you stick with that laptop you could probably finish out the year with it although it does seem like it's in pretty bad shape. I would try to make it through the end of the year but just be sure to back up all of your important files to an external drive in case something happens. Then once you make it to the summer you can look for a new computer.
