Im from the USA and traveling to Ukraine today... my nerves are a mess!!!!?

im going over to Ukraine because my girlfriend has been going to college there..... I'm going for 3 weeks.... I don't speak Russian, I don't speak Ukrainian... and I'm worried that these Ukrainians are going to hate me because I'm American. (even though I'm "Ukrainian"... my last name is Ukrainian" ) Will any place or anyone speak English?? I was not nervous until today.... I never traveled abroad before!!
