If someone is caught stealing & is said to be a misdemeanor is 18 & has a court date what happens? Help!?

We were in the store & my friend shoplifted & they caught her& she has a court date..she fully cooperated with the store people & they didn't take her into custody but they gave her a court date & Said it was a misdemeanor! Can this be thrown out? Will it be on her record? Since she shown cooperation do yu think they will just throw it out? She stole a total amount of 133 will it be published in a newpaper? Help please!
