Space Aliens probing humans..why?

As our medicine advances we tend to use less and less invasive procedures.Yet, it appears that anyone who's ever been abducted by space aliens has had every orifice probed. Now how is it that they can be so advanced in space travel, yet so archaic in medical procedures?
